J. Shepherd
Joseph J. Shepherd is an Associate in the firm's Santa Monica office. He represents corporations, institutions, individuals, and employers in a variety of employment, investment, entertainment, and family-based immigration matters. Mr. Shepherd has significant experience preparing visa petitions for multinational executives and managers, artists and business persons of extraordinary ability, internationally-recognized athletes, specialty occupation workers, treaty investors, NAFTA professionals, and other business visitors. He also has extensive experience advising U.S. employers on government workplace site-visits and immigration compliance programs, including H-1B/LCA, I-9, and PERM. Mr. Shepherd has authored several articles that have been published by AILA and Bender's Immigration Bulletin on such topics as global trends on immigration protectionism, same-sex marriages in the U.S. immigration context, and H-1B employer compliance issues.
Mr. Shepherd was recently appointed as Los Angeles Immigration Counsel for Irish Outreach San Diego, a non-profit organization officially recognized by the Consulate General of Ireland and the Coalition of Irish Immigration Centers serving the needs of the Irish community in Southern California. He currently serves as Law Student Division Liaison for AILA's Southern California Chapter, and as the Chair of the Amicus Committee and member of the Board of Governors for the Lesbian & Gay Lawyers Association of Los Angeles. In addition, he is an active member of the ABA Section of Labor and Employment Law. Mr. Shepherd received his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 2009 and his B.A. in International Relations and Economics from Tulane University in 2004. Mr. Shepherd is licensed in Massachusetts and practices exclusively in Immigration and Nationality Law.
