Diversity (DV) Visas Lottery
|
Almost anyone who has completed high school is eligible to enter in this annual program which issues 50,000 "green cards" each year. Once selected in the "drawing," winners must act quickly to be among the first to qualify for their visas. The U.S. Department of State issues a list of countries whose nationals are not eligible to apply because the countries sent a total of more than 50,000 immigrants to the U.S. in the previous five years.
On June 9th, the State Department announced that the Kentucky Consular Center has registered and notified winners of the DV-2011 diversity lottery. If you had participated in the DV-2011 program, click here to see if you have been selected.
If selected, please contact us immediately so that we can commence processing of your immigrant visa case. The State Department has sent out 100,600 notices to green card lottery "winners" who must now compete for the 50,000 green cards issued every year. Applicants must meet educational, work experience and public charge grounds in what has been described as the "lottery within the lottery". Since less than half the "winners" notified will actually receive green cards, and all must now compete in a race to be one of the notified persons who actually receives a green card, we encourage all winners to read our articles (insert link to article) and contact us to increase the chances of successfully completing the process and receiving the green cards. The DV lottery process is time sensitive and eligible "winners" with low rank serial numbers can be interviewed for green cards as early as October 2010. Those who do not complete their green card applications by midnight of September 30, 2011 will lose eligibility in this "Cinderella" green card program.
If you have not been selected, you may reapply for the DV-2012 Lottery Program which will probably take place in the fall. For more information, please click here or refer to our article on the DV program click here.
